After every call is transcribed, CallVault runs it through an AI analysis pipeline to generate a structured summary. The goal: let you understand what happened in a call without listening to the whole thing.

What the AI generates

Summary

A 2–4 paragraph overview of the call — what was discussed, key decisions, and context. Written in plain language.

Action items

Specific next steps and commitments mentioned during the call. Each action item includes who it’s assigned to (when clear from the conversation) and what needs to happen.

Key topics

A list of the main subjects covered in the call — useful for quick scanning and for understanding what calls are about without reading the full summary.

Highlights

Standout moments from the call — notable quotes, decisions made, or important questions raised.

Where to find the AI summary

Open any call. The AI summary panel is on the right side of the call detail view, alongside the transcript. You’ll see:
  1. Summary at the top — the narrative overview
  2. Action items listed below with any assignee information
  3. Key topics as a tag-like list
  4. Highlights as quoted excerpts with transcript links
Click any action item or highlight to jump to the corresponding moment in the transcript.

Summary availability

AI summaries are generated automatically after transcription completes. For most calls, the summary is ready within a minute or two of the transcript being available.
If a call is very short (under 2 minutes) or has unclear audio, the AI may generate a minimal summary or indicate that there wasn’t enough content to summarize meaningfully.

How accurate are the summaries?

AI summaries are generally accurate for clear, focused conversations, but they can miss nuance or make mistakes on:
  • Calls with heavy technical jargon or domain-specific terminology
  • Conversations with significant crosstalk or poor audio quality
  • Calls in languages other than English
Always verify action items against the transcript before acting on them — especially for high-stakes commitments.

Using summaries for coaching and review

AI summaries are particularly useful for:
  • Managers reviewing rep calls — scan 10 summaries in the time it takes to listen to one call
  • Onboarding new team members — point them to calls with good summaries to get up to speed on accounts
  • Async collaboration — share a call link and the recipient can read the summary before deciding whether to watch the recording

Regenerating a summary

If transcription was re-run or the transcript was corrected, you can regenerate the AI summary:
  1. Open the call
  2. Click the menu in the summary panel
  3. Select Regenerate summary
This will replace the existing summary within a few minutes.
